Call to extend helping hand to the flood affected people

Extend your hands of cooperation to the flood affected people stand beside them, such an earnest call was made recently to the well-to-do section of the people of the society by the acting amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Moqbul Ahmed, says a written statement of the party made available to the media.
The huge water coming down from the hills caused by too much rainfall engulfed the vast areas in the northern districts of the country. Seriously affected districts are: Rangpu, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Bogra, Sirajganj, Netrakona, Pabna, Jamalpur, Tangail, Sherpur, Mymensingh and Banshkhali of Chittagong with many other places.
Increasing number of rivers are registering rise in the water levels and the situation is worsening day by day. People in the affected areas are passing hard days in inhuman ways.
Padma, Meghna, Brahmaputra and Teesta rivers are registering water rise regularly. Very recent news is that the onrush of hilly waters rushing toward the capoital city which created panic in the capital also.
Lakhs of people of different areas turned water-logged and crops damage in the flood affected areas went beyond imagination. Fish ponds were washed away and cattlehead death was also very large in number.
The Jamaat leader through the statement urged the government to stand beside the flood affected people with sufficient help, relief and nedical assistance.
He also instructed the party leaders and workers to rush to the flood affected people with all necessary help according to their capacity.
In another nedia release the party condemned the raid of the law-enforcers in the office of the Daily Inqilab.
On the other hand, the party through a statement of its acting secretary general strongly condemned the further 4-day remand of the party’s assistant secretary Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud by the law enfrcing agency men. He mentioned that Masud turned ill and had to appear before the court with broken leg which is the result of some false cased. The statement demanded his immediatev release and proper treatment, says a prty press release. – Report: Koutilya Barman
