S Arabia will recruit 10,000 workers every month

Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister of Bangladesh, Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossian, on Monday said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) would recruit 10,000 workers every month from Bangladesh for household jobs.

The minister was talking to journalists after a meeting with a 21-member Saudi delegation in his ministry conference room at Probashi Kalyan Bhaban in the capital city.

He said the delegation assured that employers will bear the cost of air tickets of the job seekers.

Mosharraf said the recruitment process of the overseas workers would be carried out by the private sector at a cost of Taka 20,000 per worker.

He said all the workers would be recruited from the national database as the government preserves all information of the overseas job seekers through online registration process.

“We issued 1.3 million new visas for workers in the last year and this year a similar number of visas would be issued,” Deputy Minister for International Affairs (leader) of Saudi Arabia Dr Ahmed Al Fahaid told journalists after a meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart.

He expressed the hope that the recruitment process would be done smoothly with the help of his Bangladesh counterpart.

“We have done very extensive studies and identified issues and we have just paved the way for the private sector to recruit workers,” the Saudi head of the delegation added. –Our Monitor (Photo: PID)
