Bangabandhu set up 40,000 schools, says Amu

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had established 40,000 schools and nationalized education after independence of the country, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said.

“His daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina nationalized 37,000 schools as well as nationalized all education concerned,” he said while distributing new books as the chief guest among the students free of cost at Government High School in Jhalokathi on Thursday.

Chaired by deputy commissioner of the district M Shakhawat Hossain, it was addressed, among others, by district Awami League (AL) president and district administrator Alhaj Sardar M Shah Alam, superintendent of police M Majid Ali, district AL general secretary Advocate Khan Saifullah Panir, Sadar Upazila chairman Sultan Hossain Khan, public prosecutor and district Krisak League president Advocate Abdul Mannan Rasul, headmaster of the government high school Yusuf Ali Hawlader and headmaster of the government girls high school Syed Atiar Rahman.

The minister said the present government, led Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also formulated education policy to improve quality of education.

“The government also installed computer labs at thousands of schools and colleges across the country,” Amu added.

He said the country needs patriotic government to develop Bangladesh, adding, “Every sector is being developed in the country under the dynamic leadership and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
