New ministers pay tribute to Bangabandhu
Awami League General Secretary and Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraf on Tuesday dismissed all speculations that ruling Awami League is planning to split the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
“AL always wants all political parties to practice democracy in a peaceful manner in the country and AL is not making any plot to destroy BNP,” he said.
He said this while presiding over a joint meeting between AL city unit and its associate’s bodies at AL Dhanmondi office to chalk out the month-long program to mark the 40th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.
“This year we want to observe the 40th death anniversary of Bangabandhu with the united force of the nation,” he said.
Syed Ashraf said, “Our Prime Minister always wanted to involve skilled manpower in public administration affairs for the sake of the welfare of people”.
“Party received the letter from election commission regarding the cancelation of the post of Syed Latif Siddique as a Member of Parliament and the party will take the decision in accordance to its constitution,” he informed.
AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organising Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organising Secretary BM Mozammel Huq, Dhaka City Acting President MA Aziz, Dhaka City unit General Secretary and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram), Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon, AL Deputy Office Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, Deputy Publication and Publicity Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil and Organising Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, among others, were present.
Another report from Gopalganj says: Five newly-appointed ministers and state ministers on Tuesday paid rich tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreath at the Mausoleum of the Father of the Nation in Tungipara, Gopalganj.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc, Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafes Osman, State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim and State Minister for Food Nuruzzaman Ahmed placed the wreath at the tomb of Bangabandhu.
They also took part in the special prayer for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Dhaka Range Police Deputy Inspector General SM Mahfuzul Haque Nuruzzaman administered the special munajat.
Administrator of Gopalganj District Council Chowdhury Emdadul Haque, Deputy Commissioner Md Khalilur Rahman, Superintendent of Police SM Emran Hossain, Joint General Secretary of Gopalganj Awami League Mahbub Ali Khan and Tungipara Upazila Chairman Gazi Golam Mostafa, were present on the occasion, among others. –Our Monitor
