Dr Moshiur Rahman, Finance Adviser to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Saturday said that the present government has taken different steps to enhance revenue collection and encourage people to pay their taxes.
Terming revenue is one of the source of national economy, he said taxpayers should pay taxes for country’s development so that it would play a vital role to reduce social discrimination and to distribute equal resources among the people.
He was addressing as the chief guest at a seminar styled ‘Valu Added Tax (VAT) and Supplement Tax Law-2012 and motivating taxpayers’ at Fareway Multipurpose Auditorium at Khalishpur in Khulna city.
Organised by Khulna Customs Excise and VAT Commissionerate (CEVC), Commissioner of the office KM Wahidul Alom presided over the function.
Commissioner of Mongla Customs House Dr Md Al Amin Pramanik and President of Khulna Chamber of Commerce Industry (KCCI) Kazi Aminul Haque, addressed it as the special guests.
Among others, President of Mongla C&F Association Md Sultan Hossain Khan, Senior Vice President of KCCI Sharif Atiar Rahman, also spoke on the occasion.
Joint Commissioner of CEVC Md Shahidul Islam delivered the welcome speech while Additional Commissioner Md Ahsanul Haque presented the keynote.
The chief guest said the developments have been completed by time befitting steps taken by the government in revenue principle and revenue management.
Digitalizing of VAT has removed various limitations for tax paying for the taxpayers, he said, adding that people now a day are much interested for tax payment.
The government has arranged receptions to the highest tax payers every year and have made easiest taxpaying system through online so that people are now interested for their tax payment, he added.
