Hanif asks Khaleda to stop siege drama

Joint General Secretary of the ruling BangladeshAwami League Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif on Monday asked BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to immediately stop her siege drama keeping herself willingly under siege.

“Immediately stop your siege drama and killing people in the name of movement. Call off your siege program. You were prime minister for two terms. If you have minimum obligation to the people of the country, then don’t murder people by torching them,” he said pointing at BNP chairperson.

Hanif said this while speaking as the chief guest at a human-chain program organised in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University at Shahbag intersection in the capital city.

Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad organised the program protesting anarchy, terrorism and killing of innocent people by torching them by the goons of BNP-Jamaat combine throughout the country.

President of the Parishad Prof Dr AFM Ruhal Haque presided over the demonstration. It was also attended, among others, by Awami League health and population affairs secretary Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dublew, president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Prof Dr Mahmud Hasan, former secretary general of BMA Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and the Parishad general secretary Prof Dr Iqbal Arsalan.

Calling upon the people to come forward to resist the anarchy let loose by BNP-Jamaat combine across the country, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, “The country has been marching ahead under the capable and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We want to ensure continuation of the pace of progress. Come forward now to build resistance against BNP-Jamaat’s anarchy extending assistance to the government of Sheikh Hasina.”

The Awami League joint general secretary also urged the law enforcing agencies to immediately trace out those terrorists who have been killing people by hurling petrol bombs on transports. “Arrest those leaders of BNP-Jamaat combine expeditiously who have been instructing their goons to carry out terrorists acts and arrange punishment to them,” he added.

Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, “The government has already said they (BNP-Jamaat) can hold public rally at any time but they would not be allowed to indulge in acts of subversion in the name of holding public rally. Like in the past, the government will extend cooperation to organise peaceful political programs.” –Our Monitor
