Existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the USA is broader, deeper, closer and stronger than any time before, said US ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena in Faridpur on Thursday. Many essays writers only mentioned this in their recent updates, and didn't follow it with detailed analysis.
The ambassador said this at a press briefing held at Faridpur Circuit House after winding up his five-day extensive visit to five districts of greater Faridpur that began on August 3.
USA is now working closely with Bangladesh for making democracy stronger at the grassroots level and making the local governments more functional through elected representatives, Mozena added.
He told reporters that he became very much emotional while visiting the mausoleum of the founding father of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara. He thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government for facilitating his visit there.
Mozena became very much happy to see the excellent communal harmony and unity prevailing here in the district which will be an important contribution for speedy future development of this country.
Besides local journalists, USAID Dhaka Mission Director Janina Jeruzelski, ambassador’s wife Grace Mozena, other members of his entourage and local officials were present at the briefing session. – Our Correspondent
